Energy Terminal. The terminal will consist of a 'Floating Storage and Regasification Unit' (FSRU) and related infrastructure. This means that a specialized ship (the FSRU) will be stationed in a harbor, where liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be temporarily stored and then converted back into natural gas. The FSRU will be permanently moored to a jetty or quay and connected to a pipeline to transport the natural gas to the hinterland. The proposed locations for the energy terminal are Sloehaven in Vlissingen or Braakmanhaven in Terneuzen in Zeeland in the Netherlands.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c4e2ae4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c4e2ae4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why this project?\n<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f648298 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f648298\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<article><article><article><div class=\"fact_holder\"><p class=\"p1\">The Netherlands still requires natural gas, as the transition to sustainable energy takes time and natural gas complements renewables due to its flexibility to produce power. With the cessation of gas production in Groningen and increasing geopolitical tensions, the country has become more dependent on imported gas and in particular LNG. This new import terminal in Zeeland will receive and convert LNG into natural gas, helping to ensure a stable and affordable energy supply.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Currently, the Netherlands has two LNG import terminals\u2014one at the Maasvlakte in Tilburg and one in Eemshaven, Groningen\u2014operated by different companies. By constructing a new LNG import terminal in Zeeland, European Tank Terminal BV and H\u00f6egh Evi aim to diversify energy supply methods, improve energy security and competition.
